Apple iOS and Google
Android have been rivaling to be at the pinnacle of the list of the operating
systems. Although other opponents are available in the market such as RIM’s
BlackBerry and Windows Mobile, their market share is minimal compared to that
of these two performers. Even when both Android and Apple offer the mobile
technology that keeps us connected, each of them; it is unique in how it
delivers. Understanding the comparison and differences that exist in these two
operating systems will give you a better idea of what platform you can choose.
How
do Android and Apple compare?
Interface
Their interfaces have
several things in common including tapping, swiping and pinch-and-zoom. Both
boot to a home screen that is similar to a computer desktop. While Apple OS
only consists of two rows of apps icons, Android permits the use of widgets,
which offers a display for auto updating information such as email and weather.
Apple has space where the user can
pin the most frequently used apps. Both OS have a status bar where you can
access basic information such as time, WiFi, cell signal and battery life.
However, on Android the status bar displays the number of newly received
messages, emails and reminders.
Experience to the user
iOS is rated as the
best OS by offering the users better experience than its closest rival,
Android.
Apps
Both OS have a large
share of applications, with varying benefits. It is upon you to choose the one
that gives you what you want. Precisely, Android has about 600,000 apps, but
most of these apps only runs on tablets. Other devices such as the Kindle Fire
have a few selections of apps. On the other hand Apple, currently are offering
700000 apps and 250000 of these can run on the iPad. The bottom line is that
both avail the most popular apps to their users.
Software
upgrades
Although Google updates
its Android severally, some users do not receive the updates. Sometimes, people
buy phones with outdated software. This gives Apple an upper hand since their
upgrades are available to all iOS devices. However, there could be exceptions
for older devices.
Device
selection
Android devices are
available in various price ranges, sizes and hardware capabilities. On the
contrary, iOS is only available on Apple-based devices. For example, the iPhone
as a phone, iPod touch as an MP3 player and iPad as a tablet. This makes it
more expensive as compared to similar hardware using Android.
Android boasts a series
of devices and has no challenges that third party apps cannot handle. If you
are looking for the best mobile OS, Android is an excellent choice.
